The Battle for the Republican Party

From the Huffington Post, a link to a CNN poll showing that Dick Cheney and Newt Gingrich, who have recently criticized Colin Powell and his more moderate view of the future of the Republican party, are significantly less popular than the former Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Popularity may not be the final measure of influence, but this poll does suggest that Mr. Powell’s ideas have a place in a party that is increasingly marginalizing itself into a rump party beholden to Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.
