Brooks’s concluding attempt at sentence length profundity comes off sounding more willfully ignorant than enlightening. The more David Brooks editorials I read the more convinced I am that he really isn’t interested in doing any meaningful critical thinking about anything. He tends to seek out stories, books or studies that confirm his Jobian view that there are some questions that can/should never be answered.
